Education: Strengthening the Pillars in a Changing Landscape

Spain, 5th October 2026

Steering Committee members Ignasi Grau Callizo and Jan de Groof have published an article in El Debate (Spain) on the Guiding Principles of Educational Pluralism.

As the various results of educational reports – as PISA - have shown, “children are learning less and less.” On the International debates, as the authors explain, there is increasing discussion about what the new paradigm and pedagogical framework should be “capable of reversing the trend.” As they point out: “Instead of continuing to experiment, we need to consolidate what works.”In this context, the initiative to elaborate the Guiding Principles of Educational Pluralism seeks to contribute to the educational debate.

The discussions so far have highlighted two essential elements of any educational framework: “placing parents at the center of the educational debate and establishing a knowledge-centered curriculum, accompanied by an effective assessment system.”
